Observation means watching, listening, hearing and touching without judgement. It is so easy to go to a health professional and come away with a label. When you phone and talk we will listen to the tone of your voice. It communicates your pain and level of anxiety. When you come to see us we know that you are a person needing help to change, to re-focus, to set new intentions. Gentle touch tells me a lot: the temperature of your skin, how deeply you are breathing, how you bear your weight – one hip or both, how you hold your posture, the curves in your spine, the height of your shoulders, a closed chest or an open chest.
Diagnosis means an educated guess. You might come with one from another professional or the internet. I will piece together the story that you tell me, obervations of patterns of movement, and your posture standing, seated and lying down. I will use past experience and intuition to give insights into where the pain might be referring from.
Treatment includes balancing muscle tensions, gentle joint manipulation, massage, acupuncture, myofascial release and stretching based on the principles of Qi Gong, yoga & pilates which I practice but not as a teacher. We will work together to remove barriers, achieve a balance of posture, to relax some muscles and strengthen others. If we agree some movements or stretches please do them and contact me if they are not clear for you. I won’t press you to keep on coming back, you are able to make that choice yourself. Hopefully you will cross a bridge into a better place.
